What is an Athletic Therapist (AT)?
Athletic Therapy is based on the sports medicine model specializing in the active population with regards to assessing, educating and rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries (i.e. muscle, joint, ligament, and tendon). Utilizing contemporary rehabilitative techniques, soft tissue release and manual therapy treatments as well as therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, interferential current), ATs work to ensure a fast and safe return to activity. AT’s also use joint mobilization, physical reconditioning, and supportive strapping procedures (leuko-tape, athletic tape, Kinesio tape) to encourage an environment for optimal healing.
